British scientists develop a battery charging system within 5 minutes, large charging cycles, low cost
The potential for fast charging technologies is growing when British scientists recently revealed that they are working on a new battery charging system that can fully charge the battery in just 5 minutes. Above all, the cost for this system is quite cheap.
According to the Independent, a team of researchers at the University of Cambridge, UK is working on a new generation of battery charging system, which can fully charge a depleted smartphone battery within 5 minutes.
The team was led by Dr Ashray Rao of the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge. The team examined the charging and discharging behavior of lithium-ion batteries and developed a mechanism to control the super-fast charging rate.
Cambridge's revolutionary charging technology is low-cost and can extend charge cycles and avoid overheating. The potential of this research is huge. It promises to bring a big change in battery technology and speed to keep up with the trend of lithium-ion battery innovation.
However, it is not clear when the research will soon be completed and commercialized.
The quest to find an optimal charging solution is still being carried out daily by researchers around the world. Various approaches have been proposed, including techniques that use energy from sound to charge phones and other devices. However, these new technologies still have many limitations and have not achieved the necessary breakthroughs for application in life.
Despite this, the tech world still recognizes the great progress that has been made in the development of batteries and charging systems. Super fast charging now supports both wired and wireless charging.
Recently, smartphone company Infinix has announced the idea of its high-end smartphone with built-in 160W fast wired charging and 50W wireless fast charging. The charging system advertised by Infinix can fully charge a 4000mAh battery from empty to full in just 10 minutes.
